Founder and President
Raised in Hawaii and a Punahou graduate, David has always been passionate about helping people, acquiring knowledge and solving puzzles. His passion fueled a successful 20-year computer research career.
Recognizing the critical need for financial advisors who holistically address clients’ financial lives based on sound, academically-based strategies without the embedded conflicts of interest plaguing most advisors in the industry, David established Pathfinder Financial Services, LLC in 2003.
Since 2003, David has been applying the same research and analytical skills which kept him at the forefront of the rapidly changing technology field to advancing the state of the art for financial planning. David was a founding member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) University, and developed key educational materials for the Schools of Retirement and Risk Management. David has spoken at numerous national and regional professional conferences. His writing and speaking engagements encourage advisors to relook at their fundamental assumptions and help stay on the cutting edge, growing their ability to deliver the highest quality care to their clients.
By seeking out leaders in estate planning, insurance and taxes and through a rigorous regiment of continuous education activities from conferences and coursework to staying abreast of the latest academic research and performing original research, David strives to deliver the highest quality service and advice to his clients.
Blessed with three children and a wonderful wife, David loves outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, kayaking, golf and scuba diving along with quiet times for reading, reflection and intimate conversations with friends and loved ones.
